2011.1.25 BBCの謝罪

私がBBCに苦情を送ったのは、22日（土）の朝９時ごろだったので日付からするとほぼ入れ違いに、こういう記事が上がったのかもしれない。

最後にイギリス在住の日本人のコメントにあるように、
イギリス人のCommedyというのは我々の想像を遙かに超えている。
Ponty Pythonから始まって、比較的最近のものではLittle Britainなどというのがあったが、私には殆どついて行けない。

しかし本当にそれだけなのだろうか？
今回の騒動は、確かに悪意があったとは思わないのだけれど、単に冗談に対する許容性の問題で片付けられない。
核の恐ろしさを身をもって経験した民族と、核を保有し続けそのことを肯定している国との違いではないのかと思うのだ。

2011.1.25 Response from BBC / BBCからの返事

今日、番組のプロデューサーから返事をいただいた。
私は、BBCとしてホームページで謝罪をすべきではないかと主張したのだが、
どうもテレビに関する苦情は自動的にそのプロデューサーに回されるのかもしれない。

Dear Mr Banya

Thank you for taking the trouble to write to us about the recent edition of QI which dealt with the remarkable story of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, to which I am responding in my capacity as Producer of the programme.

I should say from the outset that we greatly regret it when we cause offence, and that it is never our intention to do so. QI is not a programme which habitually mocks its subject-matter; on the contrary, we try to recognise and celebrate less well-known people, events and ideas. On this occasion we pointed out the very striking nature of Mr Yamaguchi’s experience by relating, without distortion, a story which had been covered extensively in the Japanese media and about which Mr Yamaguchi himself spoke quite openly. We then went on to sincerely admire the resilience of the Japanese in the circumstances of the time (in the context of how the trains continued to run in the aftermath of the bombing).

It has been suggested to us that we would not have run an item of this kind about the European or American experience of the Second World War. For the record, I would point out that we do in fact run such pieces quite regularly.

However: having said all this, it is apparent to me that I underestimated the potential sensitivity of this issue to Japanese viewers. It isn’t hard to see that they might well regard this topic as altogether unsuitable for inclusion in a light-hearted television programme however sensitively it was handled. I thank you for making us aware of the issue, and for the courteous terms in which you did so; please rest assured that I do recognise your concerns and will certainly take them into account in future.

私以外にもかなりたくさんの人からの苦情が殺到しているはずなので、おそらく内容的にはコピペで対応したと思われる。 　内容を要約すると以下６点になる。
１．日本人の感情を害したことについて謝罪する
２．この番組QIは、その取り上げた主題に対して、常におもしろ可笑しく伝えるような番組ではなく、本当はそれまで一般に知られていなかった人々について、その経験した出来事、考えや、思想にスポットライトを当て、讃えることを意図している
３． 伝えた事実関係については、過去日本のメディアで取り上げられた内容にもとづき、決して事実をゆがめた訳ではない
４．寄せられた批判のなかに、第二次大戦中の欧米における同様な話題についてはとり扱わないのでは、というものがあるが、実際にはよく放送している
５．日本人のこの問題に対する感情に配慮できなかったことは明白であり、軽々しく番組で取り扱ったことは不適切であったと思う。
６．この反省に基づき今後の番組作り活かすことを約束する

２番については、この番組が普段はまじめな性質のものであることを釈明しているが、裏を返せば今回の放送についてはそうでなかったと認めている。

４番は、私は覚えがないのだが、苦情をだした他の人たちのなかに、日本人だからこういう扱いをしたのか、というracismに関する疑惑があったものと思われる。　

2011.1.22 Complaint to BBC ／ BBCへの苦情

昨年の１２月中旬イギリスBBCの番組QIが広島、長崎で２重被爆した山口彊さんについて、The Unluckiest Man in the Worldとして取り上げたことが、最近になって日本のメディアが報道したところ、大きな騒動になった。
YouTubeで実際にその番組をみたところ、その低俗さと、被爆者をに対する配慮のなさに憤りを覚えた。　以下はBBCに送った苦情の内容だ。

Dear sirs,

I learned from Japanese media on the bad jokes that your comedy program 'QI' aired about Tsutomu Yamguchi ('The Unluckiest Man in the World') who experienced the atomic bombs both in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  I just saw it on YouTube today.

In Japan, any subjects regarding the atomic bomb and its victims are handled with maximum caution and never used in jokes, at least on media. This is because most Japanese learn what had happened  to those victims and share the sorrow they had to live through their life. If a Japanese TV station run the similar program in Japan, I must say the President will most likely be forced to resign in due time. There would be no excuse of any kind to be allowed. It IS a delicate subject.

To be fair enough, I understand at fully what has been said in your program. Surely they talked a lot about our railway system that was able to run even after the bomb devastated Hiroshima and that brought Yamaguchi home to Nagasaki. But also talked a lot about Yamaguchi's getting second bomb in Nagasaki jokingly.  Some people may just called it a kind of British sense of humor or typical black joke. But I would say it is not funny and really  bad one.

Alan Davies - The bomb landed on him and bounced off. Alan Davies - He went to hospital in Nagasaki. Stephen Fry - Wedged between two mushroom clouds! Bill Bailey -It's happening again! What are the chances!  Rob Brydon - Is the glass half-empty, is it half-full? Either way, it's radioactive. Don't drink it! (laughter)  Bill Bailey - It's the wrong kind of bomb. (laughter)  Stephen Fry - Right kind of bomb. 

I already heard that the producer of the program has submitted apology mail against the Japanese Embassy's official protest but as BBC, so far I am not aware of any actions that have been taken. I wonder if BBC is handling the matter very lightly and trying to ignore the mounting criticism over this inappropriate broadcasting. My opinion is that BBC should issue an official apology and its explanation on the web site to settle this matter as soon as possible. Thank you.

2011.1.21 長生きリスク

長生きリスクという嫌な言葉がある。
せっかく健康で長生きしても、経済的に大変な思いをしながら生きていかなければならないそういう危険性を言ったものだ。

社会保障制度に高い見識を持っている、、、のかどうかは知らないが、与謝野さんが今日、人生９０年を前提に年金の支給開始時期を延ばし、それに併せて定年も延ばさなければならないと言ったらしい。　消費税上げの議論が本格化するまえに危機感をあおるための手段なのかもしれない。

私自身は社会の高齢化の進む中で現役で働く世代の割合がどんどん少なくなる以上、社会保障制度を維持するための財源は消費税しかないのではとおもっている。　世論調査なんかを見ても大方の人は仕方がないだろうと思っているようだ。　ただ、日本の政府は国民の信用がない。　自民党時代から実にいい加減な税金の使い方をしてきているので、消費税をあげてもまたぞろばらまきに使われたり、必要のない橋や道路や箱を作られるのではないかと思われているのだ。　民主党も同じく信用されていない。　一部にある消費税＝福祉目的税という論もそれを意識したものだろう。

税制改革がうまくいかないのは、政治家と官僚のモラルハザードが原因だ。　全体像がどうなるのか、なぜこうするのかというグランドデザインを誰も、誰も、誰も示していない。　どういう名目の税金であっても払う側は同じ人間だし、すべて同じ財布から出て行くのだ。　全体の収支がどうなっているのか示さないのは、詐欺を働いているのと同じである。　財政の失敗をいかようにでも穴埋めできる打ち出の小槌などにされてはたまったものではない、と殆どの人がそう思っており、故に政治を信用できないのだ。

 ２００９年の厚生省による簡易生命表によれば、日本人男性の平均寿命は79.59歳、女性は86.44歳だそうだ。　与謝野さんのいっている90歳というのはいったい何年後の話なのだろうか。　あまり適当なことを言うのはやめてもらいたいものだ。　ちゃんとプランが出来てから国民に是非を問うというふうにはいかないのだろうか？　消費税を何％上げたら、今後の高齢化にも対処でき、支払額に応じそれぞれどのくらいの手当が出来るとか、きちんとした見込みを示すべきであろう。　また、消費税を福祉目的税にするのなら、当然従来の年金の掛け金は廃止だし、すでに払ってしまっている分をどう加算するのかとか、細かい説明が必要である。　そういう議論をきちんとしないでいつのまにか、ただの赤字埋め合わせの増税になってしまうとすれば、自民党時代といったいなにが変わっているのかさっぱり分からないことになる。　逆にいえば、ここでちゃんとした仕事をすれば、他の大概の失政は帳消しにしてもいいぐらいだ。　この大事に比べれば小沢切りなんか、実にどうでもいい話だと思うのだ。

2011.1.13 春のような、、

先週の土曜日深夜にもどってみれば、バーゼルはなぜか暖かい。
きょうに至っては、日中は１３℃もありコートを着る必要もない。
１２月は氷点下の日が続いていたし、１月に入っても、日本をでるまではもっと寒かったはずなのだ。
こちらの人たちは、この例年になく暖かい陽気が不快らしい。
今頃は、ほおを刺すような寒気が普通であって、こんななまぬるいのは冬らしくないのだ。

2010.12.18-2011.1.8 帰省

2010.12.18-19　スイス航空にて帰朝。新横浜泊。
2010.12.20　横浜の事務所に挨拶、昼食会。　夕、帰田。
2010.12.21〜　実家にて休養。以降隔日に１０キロのジョギング。祖母の見舞い。
2011.1.2　熊野本宮大社参詣
2011.1.4　ジョギング中に初めてカワセミを見る。（会津川紀菜館裏付近）
2011.1.7    皮膚科通院。別送便の手続きをして成田へ移動。　途中東京にて買い出し。
2011.1.8　離日。スカンジナビア航空。コペンハーゲンで乗り継ぎ待ち時間が４時間。　さらにチューリッヒより列車にて深夜バーゼル入り。さすがに疲れる。

９カ月ぶりの日本は暖かかった。　日本は雪国をのぞいては暖房設備が貧弱なので、屋内はスイスの方が暖かいのだが、外は風さえ吹かなければ暖かだ。
東京では築地市場内の岩佐寿司でにぎりを食べた。貝が柔らかく絶品だった。
